- In 1744, the state of Nejd was formed by Muhammad bin Saud
and Muhammad ibn Abd Wahhab in central Arabia.
- For most of the 19th century, Nejd was ruled either by
Egypt or the Ottoman
Empire.
- From 1891, Nejd was ruled by the al Rashid dynasty, based
in Jebel Shammar.
- On 15th January 1902, Riyadh was captured by Abdul Aziz Ibn
Saud and the Emirate of Nejd was founded.
- In May 1913, al Hasa
(part of the Ottoman Empire) was incorporated into Nejd.
- On 22nd August 1921, the country was renamed the Sultanate
of Nejd and its Dependencies.
- On 2nd November 1921, Jebel
Shammar was incorporated into Nejd.
- On 8th January 1926, Hejaz
was unofficially annexed by Nejd.
- On 29th January 1927, the country was renamed the Kingdom
of Nejd and its Dependencies.
- On 22nd September 1932, Nejd and Hejaz
were unified as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
