On 11th February 1959, six of the territories within the Aden Protectorates merged
to
become the Federation
of Arab Emirates of the South (the remaining states becoming the Protectorate of South
Arabia).
The territories forming states within the federation were
'Awdhali, Bayhan, Dali', Fadhli, Lower Yafa' and the Upper
'Awlaqi sheikhdom.
In February 1960, 'Aqrabi, Dhatina and Lower 'Awlaqi joined
the federation from the Protectorate
of South Arabia.
On 1st April 1962, Wahidi
Ba'l Haf & 'Azzan, Wahidi Bi'r 'Ali 'Amaqin and Wahidi
Habban joined the federation from the Protectorate of South
Arabia, combined as the state of Wahidi.
